SLIMMER'S DIARY

End of Week 16 - 11 stone 9 pounds - gained 5 pounds since last report (down one pound from initial weigh in).

I am surpised that my weight is up. Not because I have been sticking to the diet very well, but I have been feeling slimmer. Some friends even said that I looked like I must have lost a stone - NOT! Desperate for something to wear, and hopeful that I was a bit thinner, I pulled a bag of clothes our of storage. I was able to squeeze into the jeans I had that were the next size down from the size I have been wearing. Result! I was also able to fit into some nice dresses and a business suit that before now I was bulging out of. But no weight loss. Must be those cruches I did one morning last week.

I felt really great out dancing in my lovely summer dress - sleeveless even! Then those old thoughts started creeping back to sabotage me. Thoughts probably at the heart of my difficulty to stick to any weight loss and fitness programme. Like most teenagers I had trouble when boys started to show an interest in me. I handled it by hiding. Really hiding -- staying home and avoiding social situations -- and hiding my attractive self under pounds of extra weight. As a young woman I'd use the same tactic. At any point when I started to lose weight and get more looks (and even some cat calls) on the street I'd retreat back to my fat - and safe - self.

I'm married now - with two kids, so I thought this issue was well behind me, but then it came flooding back. Of course people are going to look at you "that way" no matter how slim or heavy you are, or if you are married or single - but how do you handle it? Work on building self confidence and deal with it or retreat under an overweight and unhappy self?

My diary is getting a lot of hits from links on various sites and search engines around the World! Thanks for stopping by and please contact me and let me know who you are and where you are visiting from.
