12 stone - 3 pounds gained since last week, 4 up from initial weigh in.

Sorry, I didn't weigh in for the end of week 6. I knew it would be bad news and, to be honest, felt bad about droning on with a list of empty excuses as to why I was not sticking to my diet!

You've heard the excuses. You've probably used at least one, if not all of them before. The reasons these excuses are so lame are obvious, I won't even include them. Maybe Anne Collins, of The Anne Collins Diet, which I am supposed to be following, will be reading this and have a few comments in the coming weeks.

  • "I don't have the time to prepare special low fat options."
  • "Diet food tastes horrible."
  • "Diet food is so expensive."
  • "My family won't eat diet food."
  • "I'm feeling run down, I need some high energy fatty food."
  • "You can't get diet food when you are eating out."
  • "My supermarket doesn't carry low fat products."
  • "One day/week/month off the diet won't make THAT MUCH difference."
  • "I can't give my visitors diet food."
  • "I'll starve myself for the rest of the day to make up for it."
  • and on and on.....

Sound familiar? Feel familiar? I probably don't actually tell these excuses to other people, but only go over the list in my own head, to make myself feel a bit better. Maybe I would be more successful with my diet if I just stopped beating myself up, except that I have made a human error and then continue on with the plan. I am working to change bad habits that have built up over a number of years. It will take more than a few weeks to change them. Or is that just another one of those horrid excuses?!
